Say, what? Since when did non-US citizens get to run for Congress or Senate?

Umair — and for that matter I, and over 7 billion other non-Americans — have no control over what goes on in your benighted country, but we still have to deal with the consequences of the bad decisions by your leaders. Writing is about the only outlet we have.

the problem is a lack of personal responsibility and agency. People need to get up off their lazy asses and DO something.

Americans actually work longer hours than they have at any time in the past, and longer hours than in most other countries too. Americans are not a lazy people.

For a so-called “Buddhist teacher”, you certain don’t seem to have much control over your irrational emotions. Perhaps replacing “Buddhist teacher” with “Has anger management issues” in your bio might make it more accurate?
