Snopes' accuracy, while not perfect, is extremely high. I recommend them without reservation. (No one is perfect.)

Interestingly, I've known the Mikkelsons slightly since before Snopes, from my Fortean days. People are always surprised to discover they are actually moderate conservatives. (Now they are split up, which is sad.)
