So your life’s meaning is in your children, and theirs in their children, and so on, forever?

So no one actually gets any meaning in their lives for themselves and their actions — only from their kids!

Aside from failing to use birth control, nothing anyone does in their life — no creations, no involvement in the community, no experiences — has any meaning in your world. Only emitting children has meaning, and their lives have no meaning unless they in their turn emit children.

It’s a veritable Ponzi scheme of meaning.

I must add that saying someone’s life is “meaningless” is basically saying that they are “worthless” as humans. I mean, if my life is meaningless, what worth does it have?

I suggest you work harder — much harder — on your empathy for others who are different from you.

(Also, I’m curious — since you consider the welfare of your children to be of paramount importance, what are you doing about the climate crisis, which is going to be the most important fact in your children’s lives? Do you eat meat, do you drive, do you fly, do you buy great quantities of consumer goods? In my experience, many parents do all of these things, which baffles me.)
