Surely this very article we are discussing is an example?

You still haven't answered the key question: why would you fly a Confederate flag if you weren't a supporter of the Confederates?

The very reason you fly the flag of an organization is to show you are a member of it, or support it.

What possible reason would you have to fly the flag of the Confederate States of America if you didn't support the Confederate States of America?

No, I don't think it's intended as a parody. Do you?

Do you think people who fly the flag are unaware of what that flag was invented for?

This flag was only used for two years - while Confederate rebels murdered patriotic Americans rather than set free the human slaves they had.

When I first came to New York, I was bargaining with someone, and he accused me of "jewing him down". I must have looked a little shocked, because he said, "Oh, I didn't mean jew like the people! It's an unrelated word."

A person flies the Confederate flag because they support the Confederates. That is the very meaning of showing the flag.
