Thanks for a polite and fast answer!
But exactly what are those tasks that kids can do and learn from despite access to LLMs?
How will children learn to write and express their own ideas and rational arguments without actually expressing their own ideas and rational arguments themselves?
It's absolutely not clear that LLMs are the future. So far they produce, by definition, the most mediocre and average work, and with numerous errors.
Take something more obvious - physical conditioning. You could argue that there is no need for kids to have to practice running because in the real world there will always be cars and public transportation, but becoming a good runner is good for your body.
In the same way, learning how to express yourself and your ideas clearly is good for your mind. The idea that this can be replaced by simply typing a question into a computer program and presenting that answer as yours, without understanding either the question or the answer, is false to the fact.
And finally, what economic future is there for a child who cannot reason independently? Why hire someone to type your question into an LLM when you, the manager, can just type it in directly?
Every time I engage with an article like this one, I become more and more convinced that this technology is a disaster for humanity, destroying the critical facilities of young people and depriving them of meaningful jobs, while also destroying our natural world through huge consumption of energy. (And I actually work in this field.)
