That was a sad article. One would want you to be wrong, and yet I fear there's no refutation.
It's horrifying how all my wisest friends - and me too - have given up hope for a future for our society.
Oh, I haven't given up fighting, and I don't use my despair as an excuse to give up reducing my consumption, but I do that for my own self-respect and because of Kant's Categorical Imperative, not because I feel my efforts on their own will have the slightest effect.
I don't entirely understand why young people today haven't lashed out with richly-deserved violence, but I think it's that they've been systematically crushed since birth if they aren't rich, or rewarded for pretending it's all OK if they are.
