Right now, the Republicans are openly calling for violent revolution. But more, they have promised they will never accept another Democratic presidency, and they have been putting secretaries-of-state and other functionaries who have promised to break the law and misrepresent election results.
Both of us read a lot of history. In my case, that led me to leave the United States forever in 2016.
Detach from this situation - imagine this is some other place and time, a country where a group of Fascists publicly announce they are going to take over that country by crimes and violence - and the other side says they will not oppose them.
How do you think that would go?
Even if you know in your heart you couldn't shoot someone else, announcing that you won't put up any opposition is just a really bad strategy.
