"The environmental damage of each dollar, in carbon emission, browfield generation, conversion of forest to road, displacement of garbage, human death (direct and indirect) FAR, FAR exceed that damage caused by bitcoin."

You made this up out of your head.

Prove it. Use hard numbers and sources.

You should also do this calculation - if we scaled up Bitcoin by 10,000 to 100,000 times, which is what would be needed to cover every single transaction on the planet, how much energy would it use? (Note that credit cards alone do 3000 times as many transactions per day as Bitcoin.)

My estimate is that Bitcoin would consume somewhere between 30 and 300 times as much electricity as the whole world produces today.

I would be delighted to show my work IF you provide me with some hard numbers and reasoning for your extreme claims.
