The first half of this article was fantastic. I agree with every bit of your reasoning.

The second half was ludicrous.

The rich and powerful have had all of history to “be the good guy” and they have never done it yet. A Bill Gates giving a fraction of a percentage of his net worth away wouldn’t fix the problems even if everyone did it, and as we know, almost no one does.

Often the reason you become extremely rich in the first place is because you’re some sort of sociopath.

I for one am sick to death of begging our lords and masters, “Please, please, please, kind sirs — do not kill the Earth. We live here, all of us! Your plan of destroying the ecosystem and fleeing to Mars is no good for us as it leaves us dead. We just want to live. Please, don’t kill the planet!”

And if they won’t cease the exponentially increasing destruction of the planet we all share, they sure as shit won’t give us fucking handouts out of the goodness of their hearts.
