The idea that downloading an art app that lets you make photo collages is somehow the same as unstructured creative time makes me very sad.
A tiny percentage of the time spent on the Internet is creating anything, and the things that are created are nearly all designed to be fast, disposable, and eye-catchy, but never to last.
I'm curious - how long do you think this artist's fans spend looking at her pictures?
My theory is that most of them spend less than 10 seconds before clicking like. I'd be shocked if any of them had spent two minutes.
I have a small collection of actual paintings purchased or commissioned from artists over the years. Some of those I have looked at, not just "been in the room with" but consciously stared at, for dozens of hours.
