The idea that the US has a "varied" political system is not founded on fact: it's far more true of Israel.

There are two pro-war parties. Both R and D are desperately in love with warfare. Each year, both sides vie to see how much they can increase the military budget. If international law were enforced, every President in my lifetime would still be in jail for war crimes, which is why the United States has a law that they can invade my country if any American is convicted of war crimes in the International Criminal Court.

There are two pro-fossil fuel parties: https://archive.thinkprogress.org/obamas-worst-speech-ever-we-ve-added-enough-new-oil-and-gas-pipeline-to-encircle-the-earth-e5e24a156910/ Biden is hailed as a climate hero because he was willing to allocate 4% - 4%! - of the amount that is spent on fossil fuel subsidies to fight fossil fuels.

There are two pro-capitalist parties. There are no pro-socialist parties of any size. The plight of the American worker has steadily gotten worse through generations of alternating R and D.

I lived in America for over thirty years, but my political views, boring and uncontroversial here in Europe, were considered childish and ludicrous by both conservatives and liberals.

Israel has a far broader political spectrum on the left than the United States. There are actual socialists who win votes, popular left-wing newspapers. Unfortunately, for some reason that I don't understand they haven't been able to win elections in too long.
