The US has the greatest income inequality in the developed world — so as long as money is allowed to be used to influence politicians, then the rich will always control everything. The PAC system as it is little more than a system for legalized bribery.

I was unable to find any other developed country in the world has anything even vaguely like the PAC system. And for good reason!

As long as organizations can literally hand money to politicians in order to influence them, your political system will be terminally broken.

Your fix is just a band-aid on a sucking chest wound. More, it’s likely unconstitutional, given the Citizens United decision. There needs to be a constitutional amendment sharply curtailing money in politics, and banning PACs completely. Yes, I understand that’s probably impossible — which is why I got up and left America in 2016 after thirty years there — but you should definitely try because because the next Republican will be just as evil as Trump but perhaps actually coherent and effective.
