There are endless videos of the police using violence on the women in question, so what exactly are you questioning? The word "vicious"? I personally consider any violence used against peaceful people at a memorial demonstration "vicious", but your mileage may vary.

"Responded inappropriately" - you shouldn't really expect to be taken seriously when you use phrases like that. This mealy-mouthed phrase covers everything from "raising your voice" to "mass murder".

The fact is that police used force to arrest women at a peaceful vigil for a woman kidnapped and murdered by a policeman.

Whether it was "vicious" or just "violent" is immaterial. You can't refute the facts, so you quibble about word choices.
