There needs to be a good name for aphorisms that sound good until you think about them for a few seconds.

It is rational for people of color to be frightened of cops. It would be dangerous for them to lose that fear.

It is rational for workers to fear their bosses and to fear automation because we have seen in our lifetimes the destruction of the "good job" and this destruction is only accelerating.

Remember that horrifying scene where Marjorie "Maggot" Taylor Greene followed the school shooting survivor David Hogg, talking about her guns? He was absolutely right to treat her as if she were dangerous, because she was and is.

Lecturing the people not to be frightened when they have a perfectly good reason to be frightened is not just irrational, it's patronizing.
