Blockchain is a solution looking for a problem, and I say this as someone whose C++ code is in one of the leading blockchains.
For every application except cryptocurrencies themselves, there is a solution that doesn't use a blockchain, a solution that's tens of thousands of times faster, uses tens of thousands of times fewer resources, and could be coded in about 10% of the engineer time.
Whenever you see a blockchain application, ask yourself this question: "Couldn't it be done with a tiny fraction of the work with a boring old Merkle tree without the blockchain?"
(And if you don't even understand what that means, you are like someone trying to intelligently compare car engine technology without understanding a carburetor...)
