This article is currently my top Google Search hit when I just type in "search engine": https://www.searchenginejournal.com/alternative-search-engines/271409/

Really not a bad article. (Also, I didn't see any ads running on that query.). The second hit is the Wikipedia page on search engines.

I don't trust ChatGPT to weed out incorrect answers or not to weed out correct answers. In my experience, the more I know about a subject, the less correct I find ChatGPT's responses, which is at least a yellow flag for me.

So far these LLMs are like an assistant with some flashes of competence, but also, an assistant who sees nothing wrong with lying to me in order to make me happy.

And look at the tremendously destructive agenda of the companies that own AI! They are openly planning to destroy basically all human jobs, whether these jobs are professional driver, lawyer, computer programmer, writer, artist, filmmaker, musician or burger flipper.

So what will we do to live?

The idea that these extremely wealthy companies of proven rapacity will give over much of their profits to the rest of humanity so we can eat and have a roof over our heads is not something any of them even mention, and from their long histories of malfeasance and greed, one would have to be extreme naive to think that these advocates for the virtue of selfishness would suddenly give away their money.
