This is a great article, but why get canned beans? For about a third the weight and half the price, you can get dried beans.
I’m not really a prepper but I’ve always had two weeks’ food around the house. In New York City, it came in handy three times in about a decade — 9/11, the power failure, and Sandy.
In January, I started increasing the supplies of long-term food (dried beans, rice, canned goods) by buying extra every time I went out.
Don’t forget oil! Don’t forget flavoring agents! We have a lot of those.
I really regret not getting crackers, what was I thinking! But we did a good job.
About a week ago we closed our doors to the world, and we aren’t leaving until COVID-19 has peaked here. We have at least six weeks’ food.
