To be humiliated requires some form of moral sense, a feature completely lacking in any of these individuals.

I feel this can only improve McCarthy's stature in the eyes of people for whom sensation and aggression are the only metrics.

Some Hindus believe that only a finite number of souls were created at the beginning of time, and we ran out sometime in the 20th century. Now a lot of people are being born with partial souls, or no souls at all.

While I do not literally believe this, it does present a powerful metaphor for the state of things today.
