Very interesting article.

It’s my theory that you didn’t smell at all after the initial Christmas “smell assault”.

Famous story — a dining club went to a breakfast at a hotel, and they got sick, because the Eggs Benedict were tainted.

As an apology, the hotel gave them a free breakfast meeting — but many of them got sick on the eggs again even though this time there was nothing wrong with them.

It’s called conditioning and it works pre-verbally. Scents are particularly pre-verbal stimuli.

Now, in a healthy workplace this wouldn’t matter, but I feel that on top of the clearly stressful and dishonest workplace, people were already on edge.

Ever experienced your phone vibrating… when it actually wasn’t in your pocket? That’s almost universal. I think this is the same.

Still sucks for you though.
