Very skeptical. Such a cloud would have dimmed the sun and made the stars vanish. It would have damaged harvests all over the world. It would be visible in tree rings and numerous other metrics.
And of course the idea of one thick dust cloud lasting for ten years is very hard to believe. I see numbers like "three years" for all the particles from an eruption to settle out: https://scied.ucar.edu/learning-zone/how-climate-works/how-volcanoes-influence-climate
