In fact, the first discovered use of vegetable oils by humans is around 6000 BCE — that’s eight thousand years ago — and they’ve been widely used by people all over the world ever since, including Americans.
Let me repeat this — you claim that vegetable oils were brought into our lives about one hundred years old, but in fact people have been using vegetable oils globally for over eight thousand years.
These are Trumpian levels of error!

Now, you use this first falsehood and a lone graph of butter vs margarine consumption to argue that all vegetable oils are bad.
In fact, let’s compare your graph:
to a graph of US life expectancy:
Now, you said, “At the turn of the 20th century people were still using animal fats daily and heart disease was rare. By 1950 it had become the biggest killer.”
This makes it appear as if people had become much less healthy over that time, but in fact, as the graph shows, in 1900 the life expectancy for Americans at birth was 47 years but in 1950, it was 67 years.
Look at the two pictures: the blue butter line went down, and the red life expectancy went up — by twenty years.
Twenty more years of life! What an amazing benefit!
If I bought into the reasoning that it’s what fats and oil we eat that determines how we die, I’d say, “WOW! Between 1900 and 1950, people moved to eating vegetable fats, and they gained twenty more years of life! More vegetable fats for me!”
And the reason that heart disease became so important by 1950 is that in 1900, people did not live long enough to get heart disease. The life expectancy was 47 years — that meant that most people were dead before 50 and thus had no chance to develop heart disease, because they were already in their graves.
Of course, the whole mode of argument is bogus — a million other things changed in those fifty years. But still — huge uptake of vegetable oil, twenty years more life! It doesn’t really make a good case for your “vegetable oil == death” conclusion.

And finally, you have just a single link to prove your “all vegetable oil bad, all animal fats good” claims — and it’s a link to a meat advocacy and anti-vaccination site named the Weston A. Price Foundation started by a delusional dentist.
Here’s a quote from these guys on the treatment of disease:

Your one external source is a pack of lies. If you went to any medical site that discussed nutrition, you’d get the actual truth about vegetable oils — that some of them are not good for you, and some, like our eight thousand year friend olive oil, are very good for you.
In fact, here’s the Mayo Clinic on healthy oils, and here’s the American Heart Association.
