Why do you think repeating exactly the same argument again will work? Just because you haven't bothered to fix any of your problems in the past doesn't mean you can't go on forever without fixing your problems.

Also, "only one incredibly destructive civil war in our short history" is not really very convincing, particularly when it's much the same people doing it all over again.
