Why in the name of... whatever would a developer expect to get a company car for private purposes?

I've been a developer for some 40 years now. The number of times I've ever needed a car for work were ZERO.

I might add that if a company rents you a "company car", but you use it mainly for private purposes, it's compensation, and you should be paying tax on that.
