Yet again, you have taken some thing I knew about and showed me all these things I didn't know, particularly the fascinating story of what Robin Wascher.

For me, the fact that two dozen people’s lives were snuffed out partly because of a missing piece of paper stands out. In 1991, air traffic control automation tools would have required cutting-edge technology, but been possible, with a huge investment of time and money. But it's 31 years later, and yet, to the best of my knowledge, air traffic control is still mostly manual: our society isn’t big on investments in our future.
