You act as if battery technology were some new thing. But it is not. I was working on a hardware project in the 80s where we were dependent on battery technology.
Battery technology has increased fairly slowly, and for a good reason - it's extremely hard.
Oh, it's very easy to create a battery that will store a lot of energy, and not horribly difficult to create a battery you can recharge once or twice, but creating one you can recharge thousands of times is a very different matter.
Since my 80s project, desktop computers have become tens of thousands of times faster, whereas batteries haven't become even ten times more capacious (by weight).
Overall, you seem extremely optimistic about technology, and the real world has been a lot slower than that.
