You can't.
Be serious.
I used to watch the PTL Club in university. It was the first time I had ever seen actual evil on the TV screen.
The highlight of each session was when Tammy Faye came out and told a series of whopping, filthy lies about abortion. "And I was in... [sobs]... one of the places they perform abortions... [snivel]... and there was a bottle... with a baby in it.... [weeping] and it was CRYING!"
And then they'd collect all this money and steal it for themselves.
Eventually Jim Bakker went to jail. You know, I saw him weep and I thought, "Wow, he really has understood what he has done," and then he got out and did it all over again, and now he doesn't even have to worry about the law.
"The revelations invited scrutiny of the Bakkers, and charges made about their opulent lives, including media reports of an air-conditioned doghouse at their Tega Cay, South Carolina, lakefront parsonage as well as gold-plated bathroom fixtures, dominated newscasts in the 1980s. When asked about her income, Messner told reporters in 1986: "We don't get what Johnny Carson makes, and we work a lot harder than him.""
And of course, she never recanted the actual crimes, and stood by the rapist and confidence artist Jim Bakker.
And of course she was rewarded with scorn - because most of us have a moral sense. We don't like people who steal from the gullible. We don't like people who shit in gold toilets built with stolen money.
The fact that she accepted gay people is good, but does not make up for a lifetime of crime.
It's venerating unrepentant criminal monsters like this that make ethical non-Christians consider modern Christianity a morally empty religion.
