You forgot the A!

I’m sort of teasing, but I feel that asexuals (which I am not) receive a lot of prejudice. I know a couple of asexuals and they are still in the closet for the most part. Watching gay friends try to explain to my A friend why it “isn’t normal” not to want to have sex was quite the cognitive dissonance.

“2S” is completely new to me. Why it isn’t part of “bi” escapes me — there are a lot of reasons why a person might choose to be intimate with both men and women.

To be honest, I just prefer “queer” — if it was good enough for Burroughs, it’s good enough for me. I think it’s better to be united in a big group with all the other weirdos rather than having half a dozen little disjoint groups.

But the takeaway is this — given that something like 10% of women and 5% men are A, they should probably get higher billing if you have to make some sort of list of letters.
