You missed another key point -- which is that nothing else has worked. African-Americans have been treated badly for centuries in America, and even eight years of a black President did absolutely nothing to improve your average Black person's life at all.

Maybe these riots won't work. Maybe they'll even backfire. But millions of people quite reasonably see no alternative.
