You seem to think that "most profitable" is a perfect synonym for "best for the user".

But it most certainly is not.

Many companies have "maximized their revenue" very effectively, while completely degrading the actual services that they provide.

Duolingo is a very good example: it has deteriorated so much that now I'm teaching my wife French, we went out and bought physical flash cards which we are going to lug around with us in France!
