Your argument appears to be this:

* Right now people can mostly say whatever shit they like, no matter how abusive.

* And a tiny, tiny number of them learned the error of their ways.

* Therefore, suppressing any speech, no matter how false or evil, is wrong.

You're missing the turd in the punch bowl which is that we, the good guys, are losing, because of hate speech and lies.

We have lost continuously for decades now. White supremacism is more active than ever, and worse, it's more socially acceptable. Groups like Black Lives Matter are a punching bag for almost everyone, based at least in part of lies.

People of color are murdered by cops, and then the cops get off, and everyone lies about what happened.

The issue is simple - Americans fetishize free speech over almost everything else. Justice, equality, economic fairness, the truth itself - Americans consider these of secondary importance compared with free speech, whether that speech is true or not, compassionate or not, from the heart or delivered by paid actors.

But the result is that paid lies win, and hard won unpalatable truths are shouted down by the crowd.

Please reconsider your stance.
