This isn't a story about fake lottery tickets. It's about how become a manager makes you into a sociopath.

The manager was not a "nice woman". She played a sadistic joke on someone that she knew was being paid peanuts. The employee was already desperate because of management, and then management decided to twist the knife in the wound.

I'm sure the victim would far rather have been punched in the nose than this!

In a well-organized company, the manager would have been brought into the CEO's office and told this: "You're a disgrace. Give the woman $10,000 out of your own pocket, or you're fired."

We have to stop making excuses for clinical sociopaths.
