You’re not presenting any sort of coherent argument.

Let me summarize mine:

  • Almost every individual form of waste by humans has increased exponentially over time
  • And the total waste has increased faster than exponentially — exponential growth with an ever-increasing growth rate
  • No new technology has ever reduced the total net waste stream

We need to reduce our greenhouse gas output by 80% or more in the next couple of decades to avoid catastrophe. It’s not going to happen without a superhuman effort, and I don’t see that effort starting.

some folks have been selling the evils of industrial advancement for about a hundred and eighty years

It goes back a lot further than that, but that isn’t any sort of argument.

My friend Doug, a diabetic who drank Coke and smoked cigarettes, used to make arguments like yours over years and six heart attacks — “You’ve been telling me this for years, and here I am!”

The seventh killed him.
